Ingredients

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion finely grated
1 large egg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Salt and black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons butter divided
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
3/4 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.

  2. Mix meats, onion, egg, soaked breadcrumbs, and spices gently.

  3. Form into small meatballs.

  4. Brown meatballs in butter and set aside.

  5. Make roux with remaining butter and flour.

  6. Whisk in broth and simmer until thickened.

  7. Stir in cream and mustard.

  8. Return meatballs and simmer 10 to 15 minutes.

  9. Garnish with parsley and serve.
