A hearty deep-dish pie featuring seasoned ground beef, rich pizza sauce, and layers of melted cheese baked in a golden crust.
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion diced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 cup pizza sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste optional
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese divided
1 half cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
Optional sliced pepperoni or vegetables
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a deep pie dish.
Brown ground beef and onion then drain excess grease.
Stir in garlic sauce tomato paste and seasonings and simmer briefly.
Press pizza dough into pan covering bottom and sides.
Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella on the crust.
Add beef mixture evenly over cheese.
Top with remaining mozzarella and cheddar.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes until crust is golden and cheese bubbly.
Rest 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
Use thick sauce to prevent sogginess. Let the pie rest before cutting for clean slices. Reheat in oven for best texture.
