A comforting pasta dish featuring bow tie pasta, savory Italian sausage, and a rich tomato cream sauce. Quick, easy, and perfect for weeknight dinners.
12 oz bow tie pasta (farfalle)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Fresh parsley or basil for garnish
Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water. Drain.
In a large skillet, heat oil and cook sausage until browned.
Add onion and cook 3–4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute more.
Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 10 minutes.
Stir in cream. Simmer 2–3 more minutes.
Toss in pasta and Parmesan. Add pasta water as needed.
Garnish with herbs and serve warm.
Use mild or spicy sausage to suit your taste. Add spinach or bell peppers for more veggies. Store leftovers up to 4 days.
