Smothered Cheesy Sour Cream Chicken with tender chicken breasts cooked in a creamy, cheesy skillet sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Colby Jack)

  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

  2. Brown chicken in oil; remove and set aside.

  3. Cook onion in the same skillet until soft.

  4. Add garlic and cook briefly.

  5. Pour in broth and simmer.

  6. Stir in sour cream until smooth.

  7. Return chicken and top with cheese.

  8. Cover and cook until chicken is done and cheese melts.

Notes

  • Keep heat low after adding sour cream.

  • Add broth when reheating if sauce thickens.

  • Serve with rice or potatoes.
